Striped Bass and Bluefish

Striped Bass ChartersStriped Bass are the quintessential Cape Cod game fish.  They arrive in Cape waters in May and stay through September.  Early season provides fantastic “skinny water” action on the flats of Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket Sound.  Large schools of stripers feeding in very shallow water provide exciting sight casting opportunities on light tackle.  Dragonfly's tower offers a huge advantage in spotting these fish on the flats.  By early July, the fish gravitate to the cooler waters of the open Atlantic.  Hot spots range from the deeper waters east of Chatham to the famed rips off Monomoy Island and Nantucket.  Bluefish are often encountered mixed in with the bass.  These voracious predators, pound for pound are one of the hardest fighting fish around, provide a great battle on light tackle.

Varied fishing techniques including vertical jigging, casting artificial lures and drifting baits are all be productive.  These trips provide a challenge for  everyone  from the novice to the accomplished angler.  Custom fishing tackle is provided to maximize your opportunities to catch a trophy fish.

Bluefin Tuna

An apex predator of the north Atlantic, Bluefin Tuna grow to over ten feet in length, can weigh up to 1,400 pounds and swim at speeds up to 55 miles per hour.  Tuna arrive in Cape waters early in June and stay through Mid-October. Most of the fish we target on the Dragonfly are in the 40-250 pound range, but much larger fish frequently mix in with these schools.

There is top notch fishing gear on the boat.  Trolling rigs are 2-speed reels coupled with custom bent-butt stand-up rods.  Fighting belts and harnesses are also used.  We employ heavy spinning gear for casting. When conditions are favorable we can “run and gun”, utilizing Dragonfly’s speed and maneuverability to chase fast moving schools of tuna crashing bait on the surface.  Fish that are feeding deep in the water column are targeted with vertical jigging techniques.

Light Tackle Tuna Fishing

Regular sightings of humpback whales, minke whales, atlantic white-sided dolphins, and occasionally the rare northern right whale are an added bonus on these trips.  8-10 Hours  $1100.00  Please call us at 774-212-0712 for availability

Nantucket Island – 8 Hour Tour

Take a private excursion to Nantucket Island.  The non-fishing members can go ashore and experience the remarkable choices offered by the many boutiques and historical sites, while the anglers enjoy a half day of fishing in the famed waters surrounding the island.  Reunite with your boat mates to explore, shop or have lunch before the return cruise.  We are happy to arrange this trip with non-fishing parties, too.  Tour the island on the Dragonfly, find a fun place for the kids to swim, rent a bicycle on shore or arrange your own itinerary and I will be standing by as your private high speed ferry.  Bicycle rentals are a popular option on the island and there are many things to see and do within walking distance of the wharf.  The Nantucket Whaling Museum is a wonderful trip back in time. Guided tours of the island are available with advance notice. 8 Hours/$1200.00 Maximum 6 Passengers  Please call us at 774-212-0712 for availability

Whale Watching Trip – 3 Hours

The Atlantic Ocean east of Chatham is famous for large seasonal concentrations of whales.  Many species call Cape Cod home for the summer including Humpbacks, Finbacks, Blue, Minke, Pilot and the endangered Northern Right Whales.  Atlantic White-sided dolphins are also common visitors.  Take a private cruise on the Dragonfly to see these incredible creatures as they feed and play in their natural environment.  Frequent play behaviors of humpback whales include breaching, (jumping out of the water, and landing with a huge splash) slapping, (pounding the water with 20 foot long pectoral fins) lobtailing, (a sideways twisting motion with their powerful tails) and logging (lying motionless on the surface – a family naptime of sorts).

Be sure and bring your camera to capture all the action!  3 Hours/ $450.00 Maximum 6 Passengers Please call us at 774-212-0712 for availability

Seal Watch/Chatham Harbor Tour – 3 Hours

Chatham SealsThe seal population has exploded on Cape Cod in recent years. Grey Seals are great fun to watch, cavorting in the clear shallow water and lolling on the beach. Fantastic for the whole family, these trips provide the opportunity to take a marine tour of one of the most pristine coastal ecosystems in the world and view seals in their natural habitat.  Birdwatchers will be thrilled by the abundance and diversity of coastal and sea bird populations.  I have binoculars on the boat, but you may wish to bring along an extra pair.   Visit the Chatham fish pier and watch as fishing boats unload their catch, cruise in front of the Chatham Lighthouse and see the north end of Monomoy Island.  3 Hours/$375.00  Maximum 6 Passengers  Please call 774-212-0712 for availability.
